They make a complete and nutritious meal when served by themselves, plain and simple. Or, they can be enjoyed as part of a New Mexican combination meal, complimenting many different entrees, including enchiladas, rellenos, tacos and grilled meats. As an appetizer, they can be steamed, unwrapped and cut into 1 to 2 inch slices.
Tamales are easy to heat and serve
Our Tamales are shipped frozen and fully cooked. Refrigerate or freeze upon receipt. Tamales will keep for two week when refrigerated and in a sealed bag. They will keep at least six months or more when frozen in a sealed bag.
Frozen Tamales can be thawed at room temperature in 4-6 hours, or they can be thawed in a refrigerator in about a day.
Keep the husks on when heating! For best results, steam Tamales in the top half of a steamer over boiling water. Cover the pot and steam for 10 minutes if thawed, 20 to 25 minutes if frozen.
They can also be microwaved, but never bake them. Place the Tamales in a sealed plastic bag (with husks on) along with 1/2 oz. of water. Heat on high for 2 minutes if thawed, 3 1/2 minutes if frozen.
